1. Remove the Dash Trim

Using a plastic trim removal tool, carefully remove the wood-grain trim cover surrounding the radio and HVAC controls.

Work slowly around the edges to release the clips without damaging the trim.

2. Remove the HVAC Control Assembly

Using a 7 mm socket or driver, remove the 7 mm bolts securing the lower portion of the dash and the HVAC control assembly.

Once the fasteners are removed, carefully pull the HVAC control assembly forward.

3. Disconnect the HVAC Controls

On the back of the HVAC control assembly, disconnect all three electrical connectors.

Set the vehicle-side connectors aside and bring the HVAC control assembly to a clean work surface.

Tip: Do not pull on the wires when disconnecting the connectors. Release the connector locks and pull on the connector body.

4. Remove the Rear Screws

Using a T10 Torx screwdriver, remove the four screws from the back of the HVAC control assembly.

Keep the screws in a safe place—they will be reused during reassembly.

5. Separate the Faceplate

Locate the two retaining tabs along the top edge of the HVAC control assembly.

Carefully push the two tabs inward to release the faceplate from the main body of the HVAC controls.

Once released, separate the faceplate from the body.

6. Release the Inner Retaining Clamp

Turn the faceplate over so you can access the back of the individual buttons.

Using a small pick or small flat-head screwdriver, carefully push the inner retaining clamp inward.

Once the clamp is pushed in, allow it to remain in the released position.

7. Release the Outer Clamp

While continuing to hold the inner clamp in the released position:

1. Push the outer retaining clamp away from the button.

2. At the same time, gently push down on the button.

3. The button should release from the faceplate.

Do not force the button. If it does not release easily, reposition the pick and make sure both retaining clamps are fully disengaged.

8. Repeat for All Eight Buttons

Repeat Steps 6 and 7 for each of the remaining buttons.

There are 8 HVAC control buttons in total.

Work carefully and keep track of the button locations so the replacement buttons can be installed in the correct positions.

9. Verify the Retaining Clamps

Before installing the replacement buttons, make sure the retaining clamps are pressed inward/in the proper locked position.

This is important because properly positioned clamps help ensure the buttons are securely retained and won't fall out of the faceplate.

10. Install the Faceplate

Once all of the replacement buttons are installed and properly secured, carefully place the HVAC control faceplate back onto the main control body.

Make sure all of the tabs and edges are properly aligned before snapping the faceplate into place.

11. Reinstall the Four T10 Screws

Using the T10 Torx screwdriver, reinstall the four screws on the back of the HVAC control assembly.

Tighten them securely, but do not overtighten, as the housing is plastic.

12. Reinstall the HVAC Controls

Place the HVAC control assembly back into the dashboard.

Reconnect all three electrical connectors to the back of the HVAC controls.

Make sure each connector is fully seated and locked into place.

13. Reinstall the 7 mm Bolts

Reinstall the 7 mm bolts securing the HVAC control assembly and lower dash piece.

Tighten the bolts securely without overtightening.

14. Reinstall the Dash Trim

Carefully position the wood-grain dash trim back into place.

Press firmly around the trim to ensure that all of the retaining clips snap securely back into position.

15. Test the New Buttons

Turn the truck on and test each HVAC control button individually.

Verify that:

• Temperature controls work correctly

• Fan controls operate properly

• Airflow/mode controls function correctly

• All buttons move freely

• No buttons are loose or falling out

• The HVAC display and controls operate as intended

If everything works properly, you're done!
